Major events of the International Kolkata Book Fair 2016

  1. The 40th International Kolkata Book Fair has conceptualized a unique event called the Heritage Walk. The concept of the Walk is to relive the rich cultural and literary History of the iconic Book Festival of Eastern India. A walk will be scheduled around a specific path with 20 installations depicting significant events that have occurred in the past 39 years at the Book Fair. The objective of the walk is to enlighten the masses about the rich cultural History of the Fair. An interesting observation that has led to conceptualizing this walk is the disconnect children of today’s generation experience with the Book Fair.  To establish  this connect the Heritage Walk will witness children from different schools participating for the same.
  2. Asoke Sarkar Memorial Lecture by Ms Magela Baudoin on 27 January 2016 at 6pm
  3. A special session on crime writing by Dom Hastings and Moitrayee Bhaduri on 27 January at 4:30pm
  4. Vietnam & Indian writers’ meet on 28 January at 6pm.
  5. Cultural Performace by Vietnam on 28 January at 6:45pm

Other major events and highlights will be announced in our curtain raiser Press Conference on 23 January 2016 at the Book Fair ground

We are especially indebted to CESC for their unlimited cooperation towards making the 40th International Kolkata Book Fair a more interesting and more e-friendly event. There will be as last year a CESC author’s corner which will be grandly decorated.

The daily lottery will be held from there, where CESC will distribute Book Gift Coupon worth Rs 10,000/- per day to the lucky winners.

A special ‘CESC Literary Sahitya Samman’ will be awarded this year to one deserving author to be jointly selected by CESC and Guild.

We are specially indebted to State Bank of India-our official Banker for providing banking & ATM service, SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd – our official insurer, Goodricke Tea-our  tea break partner and National Jute Board-Our green partner.
